Upgraded to Firefox 1.0

I was holding off on upgrading to Firefox 1.0 because many of the extensions I've grown dependent on weren't available for 1.0 initially.

But, yesterday, I upgraded the Firefox install on my DVArchive/WiRNS server, though it doesn't depend on as many extensions as my other 3 main installations. But, it didn't go too badly.

So, I decided that I would upgrade my main home desktop while passing time.... Only three extensions didn't work after the upgrade. Image Toolbar, Favicon Picker and Googlebar. Only Image Toolbar was common with the previous upgrade, and I knew where to get the update.

I managed to trackdown upgrades for Favicon Picker and Googlebar, so looks like everything is good to go.

Guess I'll upgrade my laptop next and then tomorrow when I'm back at work....upgrade the work computer.

Waiting for some deliveries

I'm actually waiting for quite a number of deliveries in the next couple of weeks actually. Some of which I haven't ordered yet.

Aside from orders related to my gift shopping and immediate vacation plans, some key items:

The replacement of my dead Dell 1800FP (Reference Number 051567439). Expected today, just no idea of when.

The replacement of the DOA Maxtor 250GB drive from ZipZoomFly, just found out that it started its trip yesterday and should arrive tomorrow. It is coming by UPS, wonder if that's a statement about the shipping company. As I noted, all my previous orders that arrived fine came by UPS. And, 6 of those previous orders were for 250GB harddrives. But, this last order was shipped by FedEx.

A couple of nasty dropouts

Experienced a couple of nasty dropouts today.

First one was long enough to causing lots of resets, one surprise was that my Momitsu V880N defaulted to being on afterwards. Maybe I should move it over to the 700 VA UPS that protects stuff on that side.

The second one was short, but enough to annoy...I was watching TV at the time....The TV is on a 1500VA UPS so it wasn't so bad.

But, I've been thinking of replacing that UPS with a SmartUPS for better protection. Guess I need to step up that plan.

I've been looking at a 1200VA SmartUPS from RefurbUPS. It'll replace the 1500VA UPS that is currently there. Which backups just about everything on its side. The only thing that isn't on the UPS is the subwoofer.

On the other side, it's only the DVD players and CD player and the receiver that aren't on UPS.

Don't know why the Momitsu would default to power on after power loss. Don't know if that's a bad thing or not. The plan is would be to replace the 700VA UPS with the 1500VA UPS. And, move the 700VA UPS to protect my phones (namely the base station of my 5.8GHz cordless, the Vonage box and my router and cable modem).

Time to switch

So, I called the number on the T-mobile website to do the switch, and when I finally got a person....I was informed that they don't handle switches, and that I needed to call a different number (even though the number I call gave the same prompts about switching).

The number was 1-888-310-8369

Seems to be pretty straightforward after that....gave my details and then said I should get a text message in a few hours letting me know that the transfer is done.

I'm having trouble reading my screen...

...because I've downgraded from the dead Dell 1800FP to my old AOC 17" CRT monitor. Boy, what a huge difference.

Not to mention my desk clutter has trouble accommodating the extra size of the monitor. ;D

Dell 1800FP Dead

My Dell 1800FP LCD Display has died... :..(

...it was only just over 13 months old.

Now to see if Dell will cover it, I got it separately but for use with my Dell Dimension XPS 2 computer that I got around the same time. Originally, I thought I was going to reuse my old 17" monitor....except when I saw how much better an LCD would be (even though I still have a CRT on my main computer at work ;) )

Good news. Dell has arranged to replace it. I have NBD service on my Dell Dimension XPS 2, so they say Tuesday. Perhaps if I had noticed it had stopped working sooner....

Though it was working this morning when I checked my Email, etc....so until at least 2ish this afternoon.

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
