SmartUPS 1250VA is here

The plan is for the now freed up CPS1500AVR-HO to replace the current CPS900AVR backing up the other rack. So, I did that switch as well. While I was at it I put the Momitsu V880N into the UPS. Not that I need to keep it running during a power outage, but that it has a physical power switch on the front...and it defaults to on (instead of standby) after power loss. Though I did put gaffer tape over the bright blue LED on it. Not sure, but it seems a touch more responsive to the remote control now....the IR sensor is just above that bright blue LED.

The final operation will be to replace the 500VA UPS that provides backup power to my cable modem, router, Vonage ATA and my Cordless Phone.

At some point I might shed myself of my landline....it averages $33 a month, and the only purpose it serves is so telemarketers can call the answerer with my fax machine and say "hello? hello? I'm clueless and I'm talking to the guy in the next cube while deciding if a machine that is trying to take a message can answer me.... click".

If Vonage offered a way to activate the second port for a fax number without having to buy more minutes I don't need, I would port my landline over in an instant. I only need the fax machine like once or twice a year. And, when doing the sends...going through Vonage has worked. Don't know about receives though. But, I do have the free eFax number....

And, then I would be living the landline-free life.

Plus that might finally put an end to any temptation to get DSL.

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
