Intel Pro Wireless 2200 mini pci for Toshiba 5105-S701

Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5749630369

As I mentioned earlier, the 802.11g mini PCI card I bought off of eBay arrived today.

I made the swap, and after a few bumps....like not remembering what my encryption settings were and forgetting to update the DHCP and WAP MAC address lists. Things seem to be working well.

The only other hitch was getting Toshiba's Network Device Switch tray app to accept that I no longer have a Toshiba Wireless Mini PCI adapter and that I want it to still work with the Intel one instead.

After lots of trial and error in the registry...I got it working. Don't ask me how though. ;D

The WAP is still 802.11b...so not much improvement yet.

The other loss is the Wireless switch and light (and keyboard shortcut) don't work with the card...but I recall hearing long ago that this would be an issue.

Lots of packages today

The 802.11g card for my notebook arrived. As well as, (another) new Fisher Telescoping Pen.

There's a UPS delivery notice, which is probably the pillow I ordered from Select Comfort. I'll pick that up after work.

Got notice that my Lingo package is on its way to me. No ETA from UPS yet.

I wonder if I should subscribe :?:

According to FedEx tracking, my WRT54GS should arrive tomorrow....it is going to be a busy weekend.

And, the real thing I wanted to tackle this weekend was catchup on some ReplayTV viewing and watch all the DVDs I have from NetFlix....since it has been over a month since I watched any....

Faxing for VoIP

Well, I tried to fax my LNP LOA to Lingo a couple of times this morning.....not having much luck sending it over Vonage.

I tried *99 first, and it died on the first page (of 3).

Left of the *99 and tried again....this time it died on page 3. Hopefully that's enough....the back page of my phone bill might not be important enough to prevent them from trying to do the port. It was connected for more than 21 minutes to get to page 3 though.

Strange that I've done more faxes so far this year than in the previous two years combined. But, I'm sure its just an anomally.

Though in an order that I'm expecting to arrive on the 21st is a DSL filter...so perhaps I'll get around to finally trying that fix.

Lingo Broadband Phone Service

Link: http://www.lingo.com/

Well, at first I was going to just going to get more information on finally taking the plunge to ditch my landline for Lingo.

But, I ended up completing the application....once I got past the bug in the online application form.

If you select the box that shipping is the same as billing, it disables the shipping fields and copies the information (but only visually). The validation on submit fails because it keeps thinking you didn't enter anything for shipping address. ARGH!

Now to send of my letter of authorization.

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
