...and humid.

I kind of knew that it would be, but it is the first time since the cruise that I had set foot outside of my apartment for any length of time.

Back from Vacation Tech Buying Spree?

Well, I've started a small buying spree for tech stuff since my return. Not the kind of instant gratification that I need to drag me out of a depression, more in the stuff I put off until after my return and other stuff that is related to my return.

Namely, I bought more memory for my 'box'. When I made it an 'internal router' for using ivs-status-sniff on it, memory has gotten kind of tight on it. Kind of rough paying twice what I paid for the box to add another 256MB to the box. Still on the fence on whether I want to seekout CPU upgrade options for it.

Then the other major purchase is a new printer. My old Deskjet 970Cxi has been failing (mechanically) for a while now... I guess it has been a pretty good run for 6 years. I'm going with an HP Photosmart 8450 as my next printer. I ordered the duplexer and small tray option for it, and I've ordered some extra cartridges and 4x6 paper. I might need to pick up some letter size later, depending on what strikes my fancy.

Haven't figured out where I'm going to put it though, once it arrives. Kind of bigger than my old printer, and space is limited.

Meanwhile, my current project is to update my photo gallery to include some pictures from the cruise.

Me JetLagged?

I suppose it is a bad sign that it is past 2am, and I'm still up...but if I was on cruise time, it would be only 10pm....which would mean it is still light out, and I'd probably still be wandering around the ship....and probably thinking of hitting Horizon Court for desserts and a cup of coffee (leaded) 88|

I had decided to set my alarm clock this morning for 11am, so that I would be up for the delivery of my suitcase. Which didn't actually arrive until 2pm.....since deliveries go out at 3 hours intervals, and 12pm was the interval....I guess there were a lot of deliveries to be made. At least it made it safe and sound (and my TSA lock showed that it hadn't been opened, so it was just delayed...)

11am would be 7am on cruise time, so that's a reasonable wake up time.

Of course, I need to start adjusting back to local time...if I'm to survive going back to work on the 5th. :**:

Where's George and Cruise Tipping

Wonder how long it'll take for a bill that I used for tipping somebody on the Sun Princess to show up on Where's George or Where's Willy

A $20 US bill and a $5 CA bill to Emma, my Room Stewardess

A $5 US bill and a $5 CA bill to Jodie, one of the Ship Photographers

So far only one bill from my Sun Princess cruise in November 2000 has shown up.

A $20 bill to Daniel, our waiter aboard ship.

Other bills are: a $20 bill to Ernesto (Room Steward), a $20 bill to Dan (Assistant Waiter)

Or the ones I'm more interested in seeing....a $10 bill, a $1 bill, a $1 bill, and a $1 bill to Donna Dobson, an Assistant Cruise Director.

Just as this time around, I'm interested in seeing if and when the bills to Jodie will appear ;D

Atlantic Modern 28" Upright - Two-Tone Blue/Silver

Hmmm, I wonder if there's a reason this particular bag has been discontinued?

I have completed my second trip using this bag. The first time was a trip to Calgary via AA, on the return I had to collect it from the AA baggage office at the airport. No explanation, except that TSA inspected it and put it on an earlier flight from Chicago to Columbus.

And, now my second trip...the return from the cruise...Anchorage to Columbua, via Chicago.

Again, it wasn't on the carousel when I went to claim my baggage. A visit to United's baggage office showed that it had been scheduled to come on a later flight from Chicago, and then that later flight was cancelled.

At first they were saying sometime after 12 the next day...except the early AM flights from Chicago are United Express...the small airplanes, rather than something like the 737 I came back on. I don't know why the hold up...since I can't see it as space or time issue. Since, the flight from Chicago to Columbus was repeatedly delayed....and even after all the rushing to get us to sit down so they push off quickly....there was still a delay in getting pushed off.

There were a bunch of AirNet Express bags that accompanied the flight....I guess air cargo shipments take priority over passenger bags.:`(

Anyhoo...hopefully, everything will be alright tomorrow....

Cruising and Vertigo

Here I am....spending the night in Anchorage, trying to cool down (no A/C in the rooms, but the hallways are lots of people with their doors open, most of the people on the floor are cruisers as well...and one would hope they kept us Princess cruisers seperate from the Holland America cruisers staying in the same building.)

Anyways...taking advantage of the complimentary wireless Internet, I find myself doing two main things on line...and both related to cruising. Actually, 3 main things if you included this, 'blogging about cruising'.

The other two things? Researching and for ideas on future cruises.

And, the other is searching for stuff on Dizziness/Vertigo and Cruising.

I'm back

Sort of.... :??:

I thought extending my stay in Achorage would allow me to be more leisure about leaving the ship this morning. And, it was, but now I have to be up even earlier than I would've from the ship to catch my flight home tomorrow.

And, I guess I screwed up my booking....and didn't notice until it was too late to notice that I didn't have any tour options selected for my stay in Whittier/Anchorage. So, I basically sat at the hospitality center guarding my hand luggage until the hotel would accept check ins. And, then that was about it.

I was a real struggle getting into the mood of eating 'normal' again. And, later I'll probably just go to bed early, even though I usually just sleep on the airplane :zz:

I suppose since it is going to stay bright for so long, perhaps I should wander around downtown a bit....though with the sun low, and the threat of rain...and being in the middle of a heat isn't actually that great.

Though there is problem with the fact that there is no A/C in the hotel room. :**:

At least there is complimentary high speed wireless Internet (802.11b).....;D

Taxi is scheduled....

...but I couldn't help thinking that I sure hope it isn't as eventful as last time. ;D

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
