The Fedora Legacy Project

I mainly run my Linux boxes as "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". And, they've been working fine. But, every now and then I worry about security fixes. Not so much the kind that can be exploited from the outside, since that's what a firewall is for...but the kind that can be exploited by somebody on the inside.

Like I try to keep cvs and its related packages up to date on the CVS server that I maintain at work. Other old RHL boxes are the development NFS server and a pair of boxes that do NIS (master/slave).

Since up2date ceased, it got hard and inconvenient to keep up on relavent security issues and obtaining the SRPM and building the updates for these boxes.

Now the NIS and NFS servers are pretty minimal installations and only what is needed it running on these boxes. Though the CVS server got the whole world installed on it, since at one time there was local development being done on the box. Or people connecting to it using eXceed(sp?).

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
