Weekend upgrade project on hold

Looks like the so called NEW 7Y250P0's, I got from eBay, aren't.

I decided that I wanted preformat all the drives, so that there wouldn't be any surprises when I go to do the upgrade. Normally, it shouldn't be necessary, but when I had done the 6 ReplayTV upgrades to this model (7Y250P0) seemed to go better if I spent the time to do a full format on the drive first. The one time I didn't, I experienced drive issues about 2 months later.

Well, the drive wouldn't 'full' format (and to make it more would fail near the end...) Then I noticed in device manager, that it was being reported as a 6Y250P6. Not recognizing it, I did a google search....found a message thread from last October where another buyer was having similar troubles....and found that it is a 0 warranty refurbished drive with a fake 7Y250P0 label.

A quick comparison with my real 7Y250P0's....confirms it.

Now to see if the seller will make good or not.

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
