Guess it is time for a new UPS

About 3 years ago, I had found that any outage more than a couple of seconds would cause all the loads to get dropped on this UPS...abrutly. I replaced the batteries then, and things had been pretty good since then. At the time, my UPS was getting a regular workout...because the voltage would climb high after any good rainstorm. I had complained to AEP, who finally agreed to attach monitoring and see if they could log it. Though it was after the spring rain season....and it was dry all during the 2 weeks they were monitoring, so they found nothing wrong. Until one hot August summer day when the transformer went. voltage in one phase dropped to 55V

It isn't my first UPS, but it is my oldest [still in service] at 6-7 years old....a few older/smaller ones had already been replaced. But this one is a 1500VA UPS.

I had planned that someday I replace it with one that does AVR, since having it go on battery just because the power is slightly low or high takes a toll on it. Except a rack format 1500VA AVR UPS was about $250...and it was considerably less to buy new batteries. So, that's what I opted to do 3 years ago.

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
