hdb is here

Remote from work, I then shutdown the various services/processes with locks on the filesystem and test unmounted it. Then I remounted it and proceeded to try to back it up.

First, I tried cpio with the -O option. That came to a halt when the output file reached 2GB. While the filesystem supports LFS, I guess cpio doesn't. So, I tried cpio to standard output. That worked until it hit a source file larger than 2GB....which kind of happens since I have DVArchive storage on this filesystem. Plus I think I have an image I created in anticipation of getting a DL DVD burner....perhaps someday I'll buy some DL media and actually burn it.

Finally, I settled on doing just a regular recursive copy "cp -rp".

Then it was the wait to leave work and do the drive transplant.

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
