hdb is here

Hmmm, I just noticed the lines:

hda: attached ide-disk driver.
hda: task_no_data_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hda: task_no_data_intr: error=0x04 { DriveStatusError }
hda: task_no_data_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hda: task_no_data_intr: error=0x04 { DriveStatusError }
hda: 488397168 sectors (250059 MB) w/7936KiB Cache, CHS=30401/255/63, UDMA(100)

It seems to be fine otherwise.....from a quick Google search, it appears that the likely cause is that the OEM Maxtor 7Y250P0's doesn't support some feature that the kernel is probing for.

The old Maxtor and other drives usually come back with something like:

hdb: host protected area => 1

So, hopefully nothing to worry about....

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
