That 250GB drive I had laying about

The one I got from TigerDirect....that was supposed to replace the C drive in my WiRNS/DVArchive box until I discovered the machine couldn't address past 137GB.

Well, I finally got around to using it.

Originally, I was trying to map a plan to replace 3 drives in my Linux server to be 250GB or bigger...given that there are 4 drives in the box, and the attempt to add another controller wasn't successful. I found myself trying to shuffle files around to make room for some downloads on the WiRNS/DVArchive box, and decided things would be much easier if I put the 250GB drive to use now.

I had been planning to remove the 2x80GB drive unit, because it was giving me trouble and use a single 250GB drive in its place. So, this is what I spent yesterday afternoon, evening and night doing. In fact, it was about 12:30 am when I finally got everything copied and brought DVArchive back on line.

Haven't decided what I'll do with the 2x80GB unit...I'll probably take the drives out and put them back into my collection of former ReplayTV drives that I'm not using, and toss out the enclosure.

Eventually, I plan to replace the 120GB drive with another 250GB+ drive. Though it probably won't be until I liberate one of the 120GB drives my from Linux server, that I'll attempt using EasyMigrate to upgrade the C drive in my WiRNS/DVArchive machine again.

No feedback yet

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
