I've been meaning to try this with my BB7100t for a long time, and because part of me has started to worry about what I'll do for Internet access should I find that next opportunity and have to move....I finally started looking into again.
At first it didn't seem to want to work....but after repairing my BBdm installation and uninstalling/reinstalling drivers and rebooting a whole bunch of times, it finally appeared and I was able to create a modem and connection for it.
Then I successfully connected and played around a little bit. It has been a long time since I've been online using something other than broadband....even slow broadband (such as satellite from a cruise ship) was better than what I was getting. Basically it was comparable to dial-up.
Using the speed test at DSLreports.com, I recorded a speed of 26 down and 8 up. Which seems in line with what I recall reading somewhere.
Using a smaller/different test, I was able to record a speed of 38k. GPRS is probably not that well suited to large file transfers....
At least now I know that I'll have another option for connecting to the net.
