Vonage IPO & E-911

Vonage IPO filing describes E911 chamber of horrors by ZDNet's Russell Shaw -- I've spent a good bit of the last couple of days reading every word of the Vonage IPO filing.Keeping in mind that it is the legal and fiduciary duty of companies that file Initial Public Offering paperwork with the Securities and Exchange Commission to articulate all risks to potential shareholders, there's a section on Vonage's [...]

Now, are you still willing to think that VoIP has E911 solved- or is even well on the way toward doing so?

I still don't get why people are so bent out of shape on needing E911 service on VoIP.

When I signed up for Vonage, I didn't care whether it had E911 service or not. In fact, I didn't care if it didn't have it. Though I did activate it...just for the hell of it.

E911 was the last reason I would want VoIP....other than the significant savings on my long distance calling (to my parents), there is that non-geographical restriction....

Like, should I find my next another city...I can still keep my old phone number, and remain reachable by the friends I have in this one....

Plus, considering that the one time I needed call 911 from a land-line, it was totally useless. I was really sick and drifting in and out of consciousness, so I called 911....during the call I lost consciousness. When I came to, the 911 operator was still there trying to find out where I lived. Umm, I'm in the same neighborhood as the call center....

And, then when I finally did get the info over to them....there was the other complicating factor that the landlord had recently started locking the front door after hours, so the paramedics couldn't get it.

Next time I'm dying, I think I'll just die. XX(

Though the last time I came close, half a dozen people turned up with cellphones and they all called it was later that somebody came over and pulled me out of my car, because they were worried it was about to explode. )-o

I wonder if I'll be in the position to get in on the IPO.....:??:

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
