Best Buy was my last stop, I checked a few other places at the strip mall first...but they only had the kind with loose caps or in inconvenient styled units.
I had checked their website before visiting the store...and saw there would be three likely choices....the SanDisk Cruzer Titanium, SanDisk Cruzer Micro and Geek Squad. With the Titanium and Geek Squad ones topping out at 1GB, and the Micro being available up to 4GB. Though I was also looking for one under $100. So, it seemed I'd have to settle for 1GB.
At first I was scratching my head, wondering if it would be enough. Seems strange to think of that as a little space, when in the old days it was difficult to imagine having that much space. Had to remember that the files I wanted to store were measured in MB and the storage device I was looking at was in GB. Then, I felt reasonably sure that my short term needs could be met.
Later in the store, I couldn't locate the SanDisk Cruzer Titanium, but easily found the other two models. Though at first I couldn't locate the price for the SanDisk Cruzer Micro. But, when I did....I discovered that a 2GB SanDisk Cruzer Micro was less than a 1GB Geek Squad unit, while the 4GB SanDisk Cruzer Micro was about 3 times the price of the 2GB one. (even more if you factored in that there was a $20 mail-in rebate, though I don't). Not sure why they would price a huge difference between doubling capacity, but I guess that's normal.
