The 12-Drive RAID Storage Box

Another thing that I've been looking at is the single speaker systems....because it just doesn't look like I'll come up with any workable solution for rear surrounds...and it is really starting to ruin my home enjoyment of video content.

In this area it is probably between the Yamaha YSP-800/1000 or the Niro 600 (or better) units.

Oh yeah...another for the top block...is home networking changes....Looking at the NetGear HomePlug 200Mbps units....need 3 of them. To replace the 3 point WDS bridging that I'm using. While it is tolerable for Internet access and usually works for home media serving....not doing so well for backing up data from my desktop to my Linux server.....though its a race between the drive in the Linux box and my Windows desktop on which will actually fail first.

Hence the desire to have a RAID array as part of my backup strategy. Home Tape solutions haven't kept up with capacity and cost much more than the system...plus I don't have network backup yet.

Hmmm....

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
