Incadescent Bulbs are becoming extinct

Link: http://www.topbulb.com/

So I went online looking for a source of these.....the fluorescent torchieres that I had used the butterfly style bulbs...and finding full-spectrum in this size was proving to be difficult. But, later I decided that dimable fluorescent torchieres were necessary, and I could save money by getting ones that would take regular screw in bulbs and using CFLs.

I then got fullspectrum CFLs, and it was great...though it wasn't bright enough. Then I found topbulb.com, they had 55W 5000K CFLs... The around the same wattage of the butterfly bulbs...so I hoped that this was the kind light that I wanted to try. It was a lot bigger than I expected...but it worked in the fixture and pretty soon I was using them in all my torchieres....4 of them. The apartment didn't have much in the way of built-in lights...most rooms had switched outlets to do room lighting.

But, then I moved to this condo...and there were lights in the ceiling, etc. They weren't very well lit, using regular 60W or 100W bulbs...though the fixture was rated to take 300W bulbs. I subbed in some extra 55W 5000K CFLs and it was good. Though I didn't have enough for all the lights, so some places got regular CFLs.

I’m far less familiar with the various light attributes, but ridiculously committed to expunging incandescent lights from my home. I have it down to just a couple of bathroom lights, and things like fridge, oven, and such things that you mentioned. I’m hopeful that one of these days something realistic will come along to replace fluorescent, since I’m not keen on the use of mercury in my lighting.

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
