Third Times the Charm

So, I went looking again....this time I decided that maybe I didn't care if the powersupply wasn't built in....and looked at 3.5" drive enclosures. After lots of looking around, I found one that I liked. But, I had already ordered enough stuff that week...and I need to try to keep what I get to a manageable load when I hike out to pick up the loot delivered during the week when I'm at work.

But, evidently that was too long, because when I went back to order...they were out of stock. So, I indicated that I wanted a couple of these and to please notify me when they returned....and I waited....and I waited....and I waited.... :(

Looks like either I'll have to find a different supplier (most were selling bundled with drives, which I don't need or for significantly more than what NewEgg was offering them for....like double). But, the price was a factor. So, I went off looking for different enclosures at the desired price point, etc. That's when I came to these from TigerDirect.

Surprised I hadn't ordered from them in such a long time. Don't know why I switched...there was probably the iGive factor, but TigerDirect gives a bigger percentage than NewEgg...now. Though it could be that NewEgg carried other stuff (like the Panasonic Hot Water Pot I got to replace the Zojorushi one that died after the move).

Anyways...I ordered the drives last weekend, they arrived Wednesday...but I didn't hike over to pick them up until early this afternoon. And, now they are nicely in service and all is good again.

Well, almost everything.....during the process I heard sparking and then I bumped my computer and it went dead. The cord was lose. But, it came up weird. Turns out the CMOS battery is dead and the defaults weren't the safe kind...guess I need to figure out what kind of battery the computer takes and see about replace it.

Wonder if it'll be before or at the same time the I get around to replacing the internal drive....which'll later lead to my need to upgrade the external drives used for my disk-to-disk backups....and I don't know where upgrading my tape backup fits :??:

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
