On (late morning) December 7th, there was a power glitch. Half my home theater went dead and there was this continuous beep.
The SmartUPS 1250VA UPS that was protecting that half seemed to have died horribly. Eventually, I was able to get it turn on and self-test by removing the bulk of the load from it. And, then a few minutes later I got the load running off of it again.
But, now the Replace Battery light was firmly on and it was do the replace battery beeping at regular intervals....during the day, in the evening while I'm trying to watch TV, in the middle of the night.
I promptly set out to find replacement batteries for it....trying to figure out what source would to get them as fast as possible. First I had to determine what kind of battery to use. I recalled BatteryMart had listed the battery I wanted as "SLA-12V18-X2". Checking again, it seemed like a good price...except then there was the matter of shipping. Was Ground shipping acceptable (no). Was the premium of 3-day/2-day service affordable (not really).
The description said it replaces RBC7.
So, I went to Amazon.com to see if they had RBC7 available from them, and therefor available to be under Amazon Prime.
They did. And, that price was equivalent buying just the batteries....
ETA December 10th, 2008.
Well, unfortunately FedEx takes its time on showing up to make deliveries (though I guess UPS has been really late lately as well). So, I gave up waiting, because I had a meeting in the afternoon (2pm)....they showed up about 3pm. And, they wouldn't leave it without a signature. It came by 2 day service, instead of ground (where I had a signature release on file with them). So there was a door tag waiting for me, and I signed it so that I would get it today.
I did wait a little bit this morning, but they didn't show up in the time before my dentist appointment or the bit of time I lingered at home after my dentist appointment. They didn't actually show again until well after 2pm. I knew they had left the box on my door step. But, I had a meeting after work to go to. Though its a heavy box, and there hasn't been any problem in the past with stuff left on my door step for short periods.
