Hulu - Fringe: Inner Child

Link: http://www.hulu.com/watch/66310/fringe-inner-child

I haven't used Boxee/Hulu/AppleTV in a long time, but today I was catching up on some TV shows....and found that I didn't get all of Fringe, because Idol had run long >:XX

So, after calming down....I decided to see what the state of Hulu on my AppleTV was. Guess the Boxee/Hulu issue had gotten straightened out, and I was able to watch the episode...more or less.

It paused now and then while playing....guess DSL isn't the way to do much of anything in streaming video. Wonder if I should change the default gateway of my AppleTV to use Cox HSI?

Netflix: Rumor Has It

I rated this 3 stars.

:rs::rs::rs::ys::ys:

At first I was gonna watching it on my DSL connected TiVo HD, but saw that it was trying to stream in HD quality....but dropped down to not. So, I switched to my Cox HSI connected TiVo HD where I could get an HD stream.

Finally got my front door rekeyed.

I've been thinking of doing this ever since I bought the condo that I had been leasing. Worried about what keys are out there.

Plus there have been two occasions where I've come home to find my front door unlocked.

First time I was still leasing, I had gone away to Calgary on Xmas holidays for a week and came home to find the door unlocked.

Second time was after I owned it, I yelled at the building owner about it and since then whenever they say they'll be around doing maintenance inside all the units...I take time off from work to make sure that my unit stays secure.

Evidently the reason is because the landlord doesn't believe in deadbolts, and won't lock them after someone has been in (even though I'm pretty sure the insurance company's discount for having deadbolts, assumes you use them.) And, like my door...units don't have doors that close properly (year round). Though my neighbor has it worse...if they don't close their door completely, it'll swing wide open on its own. And, there have been too many occasions where I've come home to see their door wide open and there's nobody home. Probably doesn't do much for the heating costs....

So, I had been looking at finding details on line about doing the rekey myself. Though not in any major hurry....plus nothing, except maybe buying completely new locksets, via Amazon.com.

Well, the new yellow pages came out a couple weeks ago...and I happened to flip it open to look at locksmiths. And, that got the gears turning again.

And, now with the upcoming trip to Penguicon...the combination of anxiety and paranoia (partly induced by my CPAP & sleep issues)....I went and called the first big locksmith add in the yellow pages and had Bandit Locksmith come out and rekey my front door.

Lasko 3540 Cyclone 20-Inch Pivoting Floor Fan with Remote Control

Link: http://www.amazon.com/Lasko-3540-Cyclone-20-Inch-Pivoting/dp/B001DNGRYG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1240443537&sr=8-1

On the weekend, I started finding it uncomfortably warm at night....particularly in the area under the headgear of my CPAP mask. I was resorting to turning the thermostat down.

It isn't that warm and humid yet....could get really expensive if I'm going to need to do this all summer. Temporarily I have inverted the sleep time temperature range on my set-back thermostat. Normally, its not as cool when I'm sleeping. Now its cooler than any other time.

While I was laying there waiting for the A/C to have its effect, the air purifier kicked itself to high and it made a slight improvement in comfort. Years ago when I lived in Medicine Hat, and didn't have air conditioning...I had floor fans (TurboAire) that I pointed at the ceiling to circulate air and make things tolerable. I had given them away a few moves ago....

But, I thought that maybe I should get something like it ASAP. I had been looking previously, but it wasn't a rush then...so I had put it off, because I wanted to find the same brand as I used to have....but it wasn't coming up in my internet searches (partly because I couldn't remember the brand name).....and because I was looking for a fan, rather than an 'air circulator'

However, now that I was in a hurry to get one....I looked to Amazon Prime to have it come my way on a particular day when I was going to be home for other reasons.

It was hard trying to find out if the fan would tilt to the full blow into ceiling orientation (a video review of the Lasko 3540 didn't show it tilting more than a few clicks up) But, after narrowing down the choices that were sold by Amazon.com and in stock, so that I would get it today. I settled on this one.

Part of the reason was the remote control and another part was that it seemed to have only a two-prong plug. And, I crossed my fingers that it would go to the straight up orientation.

Home Ownership and annual vist from fire marshal?

Today, the fire marshal showed up to test my smoke detectors...which I had been informed was an annual thing. Though I have no knowledge of it having occurring last year (and I've been a home owner long enough that I should know....)

The fire marshal showed up and poked all my smoke detectors with a stick and left. It was annoying because it uses up the battery, and I want to save the power for any real smoke during the bi-annual replace batteries and test that I do.

While I was waiting at home, I got an email that the fire marshal was showing up for their annual inspection at work today.

I commented to the state fire marshal that it was kind of annoying to take time off from work to let them into my private home. And, additionally, that the same day they want to inspect my place of work.

the state fire marshal was only there to inspect state property....and that maybe it was the city fire marshal that had shown up at my home, but it seemed odd.

He would call the city fire marshal and find out if they had been at my home, etc and get back to me. They did, and they told me the city fire marshal would be contacting me. He did, and had he known that some units at Collegiate Villas Condominiums were privately owned, he would've checked with the building owner to find out which units were. So, why didn't the building owners care about us condo owners?

:hmm:

Chase Fraud Update

Today I got the letter from Chase telling me that they had been informed of the unauthorized charges, ummm. But, it was Chase that informed me of the unauthorized activity on my card and closed it. And, they wanted me to confirm the charges on or after April 2nd that were authorized or unauthorized.

Except that they included the authorized charges I had made on April 2nd and April 3rd (charges which I had indicated during the call with the Chase Fraud Department as authorized ones, just local fast food charges), but omitted the unauthorized (online) charges that had occurred on April 3rd and had triggered them calling me in the first place. They only listed a couple of the unauthorized charges, missing two before it and one after it.

So far no new charges have appeared on line. And, there shouldn't be...because I haven't used my new card yet. I plan to, but it probably won't be until sometime into the next billing cycle.

Fraud & Chase is starting to really bug me.

Today, yet another charge that was clearly fraud...showed up for my new account. "PURECOLONACAI" The transaction occurred on April 9th, which is between the time that Chase Fraud closed my account on April 3rd and before I received my new card (and called in receipt of) on April 10th.

I'm starting to think that maybe I shouldn't have, since I'm not feeling the urge to ever use Chase again.

I called Chase Fraud Department again....and they said I should see credits within 48 hours. I asked if this would put an end to new ones appearing....but didn't get the warm sensation that it would end things.

Of course, the call yesterday (with Voicemail) from Chase saying that they want me to submit receipts proving that the fraudulent charges weren't mine before they will take action on the charges doesn't make me feel any better about their operation.

Hmmm.... :**:

I got an Ultrasonic Cleaner

On cpaptalk.com, it was mentioned using an ultrasonic cleaner to clean masks. So, that got me looking around for an ultrasonic cleaner.

Since the OP got his off of Australian eBay, I decided to get one from a US eBay seller.

It arrived today. I got a bigger unit than the OP, but it isn't too big. In fact when I picked up the package from the UPS store, it was smaller than I expected.

Though for the mask I have now, it'll probably be way too big. Though I have other masks around, and they might need the extra room.

I did a quick test of the machine and then put my glasses in for a short cycle. It sure was interesting watching what seemed like smoke streaming from the rims, hinge and nose pieces. I probably needed to have it in there longer to really get all the gunk out. But, I think my glasses are the cleanest they've ever been....

It'll be Sunday before I get around to run mask parts through it. Want to allow sufficient time for the parts to air dry afterwards....and Saturday I'm helping with communications for the Cabin Fever bike run. Plus I need to brew up some more distilled water....
