Password AutoFill on Password form's with disabled Username field

In addition to previous hack to nsLoginManager.js -- Remember Password Override for Firefox 3.0

I came up with another hack to do:

Change:

        // If the fields are disabled or read-only, there's nothing to do.
        if (passwordField.disabled || passwordField.readOnly ||
            usernameField && (usernameField.disabled ||
                              usernameField.readOnly)) {
            this.log("not filling form, login fields disabled");
            return [false, foundLogins];
        }

To:

        // If the fields are disabled or read-only, there's nothing to do.
        if (passwordField.disabled || passwordField.readOnly) {
            this.log("not filling form, login fields disabled");
            return [false, foundLogins];
        }

Because there's a certain site and prompts for Username first, and then on the second page provides a disabled Username field prefilled in and prompts for password. The disabled Username field was preventing autofill of saved password....

I'm not going to #OhioLinuxFest, but I wish I was...

:..( I really wished I could be going to this years Ohio Linux Fest, some of the talks and the theme (40 Years of Unix) is interesting. Plus I wanted to see some of the past speakers again to see what a year has changed, and see meet the various fellow organizers that I've been working with online. Along with see some of the people that I won't be seeing since I'm not going to LISA this year.

Some of talks I probably wanted to see/hear include: Keynote Dr. Douglas McIlroy who developed UNIX pipes and UNIX tools such as spell, diff, sort, join, graph, speak and tr. Shawn Powers, who I used to watch in his video podcasts (I've fallen really behind....thinking of getting an iPod Nano or something?) Who I didn't get to meet at Penguicon due to standing in the beef line and other bad luck.

Though there was the conflict between "Shared Destiny: 40 Years of Unix, 40 Years of VM, and How They Came Together" and maco's talk "Sysadmins' Rosetta Stone", both of which I wanted to attend, though I probably would've gone with the first. Since I see going to OLF as 'vacation' rather than 'work'. Even though I'd probably end up doing some poking around at work by remote....though things this year...I might actually have less work to do while on vacation....

Thought it might be interesting to see what is covered at the DiOS (Diversity in Open Source) on Sunday. And, not because I think that someday I want to break back into contributing to Open Source projects, or something.

And, then there's the whole 'ex-IDIOT Doctor Who Fan Club'.

But, a few weeks ago I had a little accident on my bike....the kind where I stopped suddenly, and it happened in 3 stages.

First stage, the bike stopped instantly. Second stage, I went flying over the handle bars ... putting my right hand out in front of me to stop my head from hitting the pavement. Third stage, bike coming down on top of me...pulled over by my legs catching the handle bars.

My portion of the ER visit....that was the hotel room at OLF.

No broken bones, but had elbow and wrist contusions....in my right arm....loss of motion in both directions. Made it really hard to first few days to do basic things like bath, shave, dress, put on my CPAP mask....eventually inward motion returned (though painful)...but still can't straighten my arm, though it has improved a bit.

So the physical therapy cost will probably be at least the airplane ticket to OLF.

And, I wasn't entirely sure how I was going to pay for OLF as it was....was gonna tap my cruise fund to for part of it (with most of it going towards my later trip to Chicago TARDIS)....

I came this close to buying another @Tivo HD

With the coming fall season, it was starting to look like that 4 tuners of my current two TiVo HDs might not be enough to cover my recording needs. So, I was trying to work getting another TiVo HD into my budget. And, figuring out how it would fit into my Home Theatre setup.

I had worked out where it might go, and I even got another TiVo HD remote and figured out how to change codes (which I did because #2 conflicted with a Honeywell Fan, which I mentioned earlier).

But, with a little time on my hand, I made up a spreadsheet (again) and worked out the shows I want and the tuners I have...and it looks like I can make it work with the TiVo HD's I have now. Plus, I could always just cut back on TV. There's shows I recorded last year that aren't going to get recorded this year, and who says all the new shows are going to make cut. Either mine or the networks...usually the network cuts the shows I want to watch and keeps the shows that I cut...so the tuner over load tends to be more of a transient problem....

Though there have been times in the past where 4 was not enough back in the ReplayTV days....though there was the getting of HBO/SHO during that period. But, only appointment show during that period was "Dead Like Me"....I kept the package and even continued it after moving to Manhattan, KS and with Cox....but eventually it was time to end it. I don't seem to watch nearly as much TV as I used to.

Though it would be nice if there was a way to upgrade the external drives on my TiVo HD's....perhaps someday I'll clear the backlog of shows on them, and do it.... like someday I'll add more storage to various computers at home....

Now to find some time, sit down and reorganize my season passes to fit the plan I've come up with on my spreadsheet. Though I also want to tweak it a little, similar to how I had a plan of what shows would be on which ReplayTV....

Saying good-bye to phone service again.

Today, I finally pulled the trigger again....and canceled my home phone service. But, I'm keeping DSL.

Originally, when I first moved to Manhattan, KS there were issues on whether or not I could get a local number from a VoIP provider. And, I was interested in the possibility of getting DSL. Plus as it turned out, I had trouble getting Cox Internet. So, I had to use expensive dialup Internet to feed my habit. :>>

Later I went ahead and ordered DSL, after giving up on ever getting Cox. Of course, once I did that, Cox moved mountains, and got me connected. But, I kept DSL because it had been on my list of things to try....to try being dually connected. Which has been fun, so I'm going to continue to do this.

But, since I got Internet service at home...I haven't used the phone part of my home service.

So, I was sitting around this morning, because I didn't have to go into work, looking for little things to pass the time with....so I decided this was a good time as any to finally make that call.

Getting past the automated phone system to a real person was kind of a pain, but once I got a real people the process went surprisingly well.

So, this Friday my home phone service will be no more. It was kind of useless...at over $27 a month for just basic local service, when pretty much all I do are long distance calls (to Canada...to my mom)...hence the value of VoIP. I had rationalized keeping it for when nothing else is available....but having survived a couple significant power outages recently...I decided that it wasn't as essential.

Yes, I expect my DSL cost to go up....by $10....but it is still a savings....that I can apply to other crazy things.

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
