Call from Chase Fraud Department today

For the 3rd time since I've had a Chase Perfectcard, I've had my card closed by Chase due to fraudulent online charges.

First time was in April 2005. The second time was in January 2008. And, now a third time....April 2009. This and the first time, are both before I plan to go on trips....so some added inconvenience.

Not sure I sense a trend.... :hmm:

I don't understand why there's so much trouble with this card, and not my other ones....Visa, Discover, American Express. With the exception of American Express, the cards get pretty much the same kind of usage...most of the same places in brick and mortar use (except places that don't accept Discover)...and generally the same kind of online activities.

The last time this happened, I talked about whether or not I should be looking for a different company to provide me a Mastercard. Perhaps it is time to revisit that idea again.

If only it wasn't such as hassle, etc. Plus the timing sucks this time again....

The same thing happens to me! All of my other credit cards are fine, no problems since my first Mastercard 6 years ago, but with Chase… I’ve had my card closed twice. I don’t understand if its something on their part that’s making my card so easily accessible or if I’m not being careful enough when using my card online. Either way, I don’t think that I’m going to wait for a third time for this to happen. I might just close it!

if not for cc’s value when out of locale, I’d suggest you keep all cards encased in concrete (though not necessarily under your mattress :-) )
long ago my bank “approved” a cc application but wanted an annual fee, so i haven’t bothered with ccs since. i’ve had other people’s accounts buy a few things online recently, but only the pc was a savings, perhaps $100. a new pc every 7 or 8 years doesn’t justify 7 to 8 years of cc time & monetary outlay. just managing bank goof ups with other accounts eats up enough time already.
the underlying problem is a society that’s been swallowed by the “sales|gordon gekko” culture and has been losing the ability to half-competently perform any other activity.

Types of Internet Scams

Have you got a mail from a “big guy” of some country who has fallen in trouble and wants to keep his money in your account for some days? Don’t ever fall for this scam! You might end up being behind bars for playing accomplice to the sender of this mail.

This is not the only scam doing the rounds. There are a plethora of Internet scams that keep happening every now and then. The advantage of not coming into personal contact with the victim or the venue of crime gives the perpetrator of crime an opportunity to get away. A person sitting in some remote part of the world mishandles your bank account by fooling you and gets away. Isn’t it difficult for you to catch him/her?

Here are some exemplary types of internet scams that have been happening for almost a decade now. Just take a note of them so that you don’t fall for similar scams if you happen to encounter some in your cyber communications.

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
