Got a new UPS

A while back I had looked at APC's Trade-UPS offer on trading in my old BackUPS Office 500VA (BF500). I had replaced the batteries a few times since I had acquired it at charity auction used. And, it could probably continue to serve me if I had gotten another new battery for it.

Though I earlier this year I had picked up an APC Back-UPS ES 550VA (BE550R), through a President's Day sale, and similar in style...it offered new features that the old UPS didn't have, and its rated to be more efficient/longer lasting. And, seems to do the job I have it doing.

But, the trade-in discount wasn't huge compared to sales that appear from time to time, and I wasn't sure I wanted the hassle...though its probably greener than breaking the UPS up so its battery is disposed differently than the rest...and the battery disposal is another kind of hassle. So, I kind of have a small collection of batteries at the moment.

Then recently I got an email, of a further 10% discount on the Trade-UPS price...and I don't know if it was that way before...free shipping (both ways).

While it was still kind of a hassle returning the old UPS...had to find a box to put it in and attach the UPS label to...and then it was getting the old UPS to UPS. I had put it by the door hoping the next time UPS came by with deliveries, that I would give it to him....only problem was I kept forgetting to do that. Finally, I just took it down to the UPS store...and off it went.

Well, today the new UPS arrived. It's a BE650G.

Of course, I'm not sure where I'm going to use it yet. Well, actually one possibility comes to mind...but there's still the whole project of rearranging my bedroom and replacing the disintegrated dresser (and no more piles of clean clothes on the floor)....a project I plan to tackle later this month....

Guess I'll find somewhere to put it aside until then....

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
