Time to reconfigure my TV inputs....

Decided it was time to see about freeing up my DVI input again, and seeing how my Momitsu V880N would work on VGA input.

Scheduled Delivery is for today.

Ya! It arrived.:>>

I was worried there was going to be a repeat of last year...where I would have to wait until after Thanksgiving to get my package.

DVD: In The Cut

Link: http://www.netflix.com/MovieDisplay?trkid=90529&movieid=60031245

Well, I discovered what an RPC=1 DVD is....this one wouldn't play in my Momitsu V880N until I changed from the factory region code of 0 to a region code of 1.

I rated this 3 stars. :rs::rs::rs::ys::ys:

Which is what NetFlix suggested I would rate it as. Maybe they are starting to get inside of my head. This makes 617 ratings....

3BLP Update

An interesting side effect since the 3BLP incident last night, is that the 'on' melody tone is back.

I had posted about my discovery that the TV volume control affects whether or not it plays the 'off' melody tone (This thread on HDTVoice.com)

But, I noticed that somewhere after I made the tweak -- here -- that it wasn't making the melody tone when turning on.

I wasn't too concerned about it, because my main concern was been able to hear for certain that it was shutting down.

Because the cable box (SA8000HD DVR) outputs a black video signal when it is turned off....and if the off for the TV fails to register...it could end up being left on for a long time until I discover it. And, this has happened twice so far.

Hopefully this will be the only thing to come out of this. :>>

Vacation Planning

As a personal rule, I want to avoid talking about work....outside of work.

Though it seems to be impossible to avoid talking about work with co-workers, outside of work.

But, a recent change at work does impact vacation planning. Which is something I hope to have stuff to blog about :>>

3BLP

Darn...had my first scare.

The dreaded "3 blinking lights problem".

I hit power again, and it turned off and a few seconds later I hit power again and this time it came on fine.

I hope I never see it again.

Gotta stop updating my V880N

I sure hope there isn't a limit to the number of times the firmware in the V880N can be changed.

Since I'm using DVI output at the moment, I figured I'd give the November 5th firmware another try.

Wasn't there a November 8th firmware? Guess they pulled it (or moved it because it wasn't relavent, since it apparently had something to do with the SCART interface)

Then I read that people are having trouble playing movies from their computer.

I confirmed that this is the case with my machine.

So I downgraded back to the October 18th firmware again.

I don't know if the move with DVI is permament....I'm not really prepared to buy a DVI switcher at this point. Perhaps I'll see if the analog side exhibits the same problems as component output (but have to move my OTA HDTV tuner off of the VGA port first).

This'll require bumping the V880N off of the component input that it is currently connected to.

I had originally intended to try it VGA, but didn't have the adapter available at the time.
