Holster for Blackberry 7100t

I finally received the holster I ordered back in November from Guess they got tired of waiting for a RIM one, so they made their own... Moftware. It is advertised as having the sleeper function, and there was a little magnet on the back. But, it is in the wrong place and of ineffective size to activate the sleeper function...and it isn't held in place by anything and promptly fell off when it found something else to attach itself to.

Affects my sound profile, because now it can't tell when it is in holster or not.

A few weeks ago when I had given up the wait...I had ordered a canvas holster -- -- which is functional, but it covers up the it muffles the ring tones. Which are pretty wimpy already and don't attract enough attention when somebody is calling me. I frequently miss calls because I simply didn't hear the ring. At least this holster does activate the sleeper function. And, the clip will actually expand enough to get onto the side of my pants and swivel.

RIM BlackBerry Swivel 7100t Holster

RIM BlackBerry 7100t Swivel Holster

I ordered one of these back in November from, they charged my card immediately....but I still don't have it...and they keep moving the date .... >:XX

I was thinking of ordering their Blackberry High Capacity Battery, but since they haven't fulfilled my first order with them and did the annoying charge first, no ship thing on me....I'm not sure I'd ever want to do business with them ever again.

Fool me once, shame on you....Fool me twice, shame on me....

Upcoming projects

Well, today I found a box waiting for me by the front door.

Inaddition to a Bluetooth headset, that I want to bound to my BB7100t. I had thrown in a few other items in the order.

A SATA controller. Wonder if it'll work in my Linux server, and allow me to reuse the extra SATA drive I have. Though I guess I have to move up the plan to offload essential services from that Linux server to the other Linux server that I've been building.

A couple of USB powered notebook coolers. To add cooling to the OTA HDTV STBs in my rack. They'll be powered off of the USB ports on the respective ReplayTVs. Since the boxes will get moved, I'll need to readjust the antennas....I think at the same time I look to see if combining and splitting will help my situation.

The situation is that if I aim the antenna a certain way, I can get ABC, but lose everything else. And aimed another way...I can mostly get everything....except ABC. Though sometimes FOX complicates things, likely due when they mess around with their power level. If I am right at FOX, I lose UPN which is far away... ABC,FOX,NBC,CBS,PBS are about 9-12 miles away from me...but UPN is 33 miles away. Actually, ABC and FOX are the closest two stations to me....

Anyways....I guess we'll find out when I mess around with things on the weekend.

Upgrade my BB7100t to 4.0

Well, after hearing that 4.0 was out for the BB7100t...I decided to try doing the update. Hoping that it would allow certain apps to work without BES...alas, no such luck.

What I did get instead was a near death experience.

At the reboot step in the update....507 error. :..(

And, my PC would no longer detect the 7100t. So, I couldn't rerun the
application loader to try again. After much panic, I rebooted both the 7100t
and my computer...and eventually, it detected it that I could load
4.0 onto it. Though everything else seemed to be lost. But, I took a chance
and restored a backup...and everything seemed to come back. Except for the
service books and the IM client. But, followed the steps in the upgrade
document to get those back. I had a Feedburner beta that I had installed
online which was also missing, but I wasn't using I won't really miss
it except the minor impact it makes to my menus.

At least the message about 'error processing policy file', and the red X,
everytime Desktop Manager starts...until I click gone.

Phone Number Conundrum

They should outlaw cutsey phone numbers that use letters.

First they are a pain to dial because you have to look at the phone pad to figure out what number to dial.

And, worse...they don't work if your phone pad doesn't look like this:

    1 2 3
         ABC DEF

    4 5 6
   GHI JKL MNO

    7 8 9

But, rather you have a Blackberry 7100t, like I looks like:

BB7100t temporary image hosting

More on creating home screens for the BB7100t...well, I found this....

In order to help fellow BlackBerry 7100t users deal with T-Mobile's lacking image attachment support, I created this service. It is intended to help PC users get attachments to a BB, and not the other way around.

Blackberry 7100t Custom Wallpaper Images

I was playing around on Friday, and found that I could save images from the browser and then use those images as the home page on my phone. 88|

The picture I had grabbed was of me from my own website, it didn't look very good and was badly placed on the screen.

This got me thinking of creating an image of my own for this.

When I finally got around to doing though, the first thing I went looking to do was recreate a custom OSU logo. The one I had on my Motorola T720 had the wrong aspect ratio for the visible portion on the blackberry screen, so I had to fiddle with getting something that worked.

This is the image I came up with:

OSU logo for BB7100t

ditch bars on BB7100t

Just came across B-)

Looks better using the 'default' theme rather than the 'T-Mobile' theme.

Kind of confusing of smaller being better. I knew my signal was bad at work, but now it is easier to see just how bad it is.

Orders Delayed

ARGH.... >:XX

Darn....I have one gift left, ordered it after Thanksgiving. Was backordered (even though the site gave no indication, and continued to give no indication...I ordered it from them, for about $10 more, because a different site did indicated that it was out of stock...).

The confirmation email said it would ship around December 4th.

Still no sign of it, and the online tracking system wouldn't shed any info on it...because it would only say that something was shipped and that I received it, but nothing on the fact that they didn't ship the full order, etc.

So, I emailed about it. They say they plan to ship it around December 16th now. But, they didn't actually say they have it in stock or not....which seems deliberately vague. >:(

Though it means I probably won't receive it by December 21st inorder to rebox it and try to overnight it to its recipient.

Meanwhile, the other item I ordered back on November 13th was a Swivel Holster for my Blackberry 7100t. They charged my card immediately. But, gave me no indication that they didn't have it or weren't going to ship it. A couple weeks later, they had updated their site as saying it would ship December 15th. DHL 5 day service....might get it in time.

But, I checked today...and now they are saying January.... >:(

And, I was thinking of ordering something else from them....but perhaps not.

Now instead of subjecting some poor random forum to a long rambling thought, I will try to consolidate those things into this blog where they can be more easily ignored profess to be collected thoughts from my mind.
