What were the seven stages of grief?

Hmm, I think the first one is supposed to be Shock.

I guess going numb when I was told about it, was my reaction.

Then, the next one is Denial followed by Guilt.

Can't say I really experience either of these stages. Perhaps it was just the way things happened or something.

The next ones are Anger and Depression.

Well, depression is a natural thing for me to experience, so that's probably what happened...jumped all the earlier stages to get to it. It'll probably stick around for a very long time, though I'm hopeful that I'll be able to manage it.... Hope incidentally is the next stage after depression. Though I don't think I've really entered it until I find more to be hopeful for.

The hard thing is most of my normal coping mechanisms are taken a hit by this specific cause. Hiding from it at work, or doing some shop therapy, are kind of restricted by my current situation. Though I was planning to get a haircut today, so I should try to still do that...so maybe at least my mood won't show as much.

After hope comes Acceptance. Which I suppose has always been something I've had a hard time with. It wasn't until I was set at working at Open Text after my previous layoff that I full accepted all of it.

"And acceptance is the answer to *all* my problems. today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing or situation---some fact of my life---unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment. Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in God's world by mistake..."

Digital TV changeover suggested for 2009

Link: http://news.com.com/Digital+TV+changeover+suggested+for+2009/2100-1028-5785519.html?part=dht&tag=ntop&tag=nl.e703

They say they want us to hurry up and make the switch to digital. But, they still talking about off in 2009, there'll be the $50 converters available....

Well, obviously most people are going to wait until these $50 converters become available then.

What they need to do is make the $50 converters available now. Which is where the price should be now.....

Of course, they also need to stop fiddling around with how digital TV is going to be done. Treating the digital TV market the same way as computers isn't going to fly with consumers.

My old analog TV served me fine for 21 years, the only thing along the way was getting external tuners to keep up with the growing number of TV channels.

I got a digital ready TV/Monitor....just doesn't have a tuner....but one of these will come into existence when they come up with the standard.... Well, there's CableCard 1.0, and new TVs come with it built in now. But, where are the tuners for those of us that already got digital TVs without them? Of course, maybe they are waiting for CableCard 2.0 to come into existence, and how will they support the people that already have the older TVs?

Telling them that they should've waited until 2009 like the rest of the world?

Netflix Update....

Link: http://www.netflix.com/Queue?linkloc=qb

Well, according to my queue...they are going to be shipping the next 3 available selections sometime today.

So, I guess that means the 3 that they mailed to me on July 6th, really are lost.

The mailman has already been here today, and still no sign of the DVDs (just a couple of unmarked charity solicitions and a magazine).

Wonder when I'll get the new 3.... :.

Flight of the Feline

Almost the kind of thing that would make me want to have a cat again....if it wasn't for the fact that I'm allergic and had a cat taken away from me for my own good.

Though catching my cat in action for such great pictures....I wish I had thought of that. Wonder if having a clean place is needed though.

HP Photosmart 8450

Today, I finally decided it was time to setup the new printer....

On the most part it was pretty straightforward. It kind of fits, being that it is bigger than the old printer....though the way it sits on my stand, there is no traction so it likes to slide around alot....especially when I'm trying to switch paper or load ink cartridges. And, it'll probably do it when I try memory cards in it or connecting a camera to it (should I choose to try this).

But, I did decide to have it become the memory card device for my computer. Since it uses only a single drive leter, rather than my USB reader which is using up 4 drive letters.

So far the only problems I've had is that I can't seem to setup multiple print queues like I did with my DJ970Cxi. So, the default is to print FastDraft double sided, etc. And, no queue shortcut for when I want to print good or better. Guess we'll see how I live with that.

The other obstacle was configuring Stamps.com to work with it. I got the rear tray option to hold #10 envelopes. The shape step tries to use Letter size to figure out what orientation to print as, but the printer detects the size error and won't let it. So, I had to pick a shape and see if that worked. Online support for Stamps.com, mentioned that this might be the case with some printers. So, that seems to be okay. Though I haven't printed any actual postage. Namely because I only had the one #10 envelope left.

Not sure when I'll get to doing photo printing...but eventually I'll be dumping a bunch....partly to have hardcopy backup  of my vacation photos, and to send some to my parents....

I received another case for my BB7100t.

Looked interesting on the website, but almost immediately on putting my BB7100t into it...I started disliking it.

First problem...is that it would get to be a pain for replacing the battery.
