ZipZoomFly - Maxtor DiamondMax 10 250GB Serial ATA w/16MB Buffer

Link: https://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=100718-3

Well, it is done.

Order Number Z2478169.

That brings me to a total of 8 250GB drives ordered from ZipZoomFly.com....out of the total of 9 that I've purchased to date.

;D

Hmmm, forgot to see if they carry my current favorite in Ergonomic keyboards....

Also forgot to order the KVM that is on my wishlist....though I was thinking I might see if Best Buy has a 4 port version of the 2 port one I have now (which I got from them)....plus there are other things I need to go out and buy this weekend. :P

Today is a bad day for technology....

>:-[

This morning my computer was acting funny. When I rebooted....keyboard was dead.

Fortunately, I had bought a new keyboard in anticipation of keyboard failure (though wrong one). The cleaners at work keep smashing into my keyboard when the clean my cubicle....and it is my keyboard, not the company's. It's an Ergonomic keyboard, rather than the original keyboard. So, far the damage to that keyboard hasn't impaired my ability to use it.

But, home keyboard...unexpected. Wonder if I need to order another spare keyboard now?

New Deliveries

Today, while I was having lunch in McDonalds...I spotted the normal FedEx guy. He asked me if I had been home yet, because he had dropped off a package for me.

I couldn't think of what I was expecting from FedEx, so I finished my lunch and went home to find out.

Found two packages waiting for me.

UPS had delivered the PC I had bought off of eBay....so that'll probably be my weekend project to turn it into the new DNS/NTP/DHCP server for my home network. It'll mostly be an appliance in my network. Though I'll probably do a few other things to it.

I suppose I probably need to get a 4-port KVM now.

The FedEx delivery was is the replacement Maxtor drive. I plan to stick that in my current Linux server....where my DVArchive store has grown to fill the disk that is in there now. Not sure when I'll get around to putting it in though. Kind of depends on how the new Linux server goes.

New server build?

Yesterday, I decided it was time to see about getting a diagnostic code for my dead Maxtor 250GB drive so I can see about getting it replaced. I'm running out of space on my Linux DVArchive Server. I'm also running out of space on my other DVArchive server.... But, it should be possible to mount another drive in the Linux box (while the Windows/DVArchive box is SFF, so I would need some kind of external storage.....and apparently Maxtor drives can't be master/slaved inside the box I have now).

While, I was doing this I threw out my back.... >:XX

But, I got the code and sent the drive off to see if Maxtor will replace it.

Refurbished Dell 1800FP & Replaced 250G

Well, I swapped in the refurbished Dell 1800FP that Dell shipped in response mine dying last Friday. Now to put my dead monitor into the box and have DHL pick it up, etc.

So great having the display back in front of me. 88|

Old monitor is back where it was, so I reupgraded my refurbished 5040 to 250GB. That went smoothly...probably having done it 8 times before was a factor. ;D

Meanwhile, another box from UPS....UPS lady asking why I chose to be in a top floor apartment.... I don't think I'm expecting any UPS packages tomorrow, but I am expecting one on Monday. :P

Got Some Deliveries

Well, I got some deliveries last night and this morning.

3 packages from UPS arrived last night just a little after 7pm. I hear this'll be normal with it being the holiday season now.

One of the packages contained the new 250G drive (after RMA of the DOA one) from ZipZoomFly.com, I'll probably do the upgrade tonight after work (hopefully getting it done before ER).

Then I slept in this morning. I decided last night that I would play around with my alarm settings, because I used to listen to 97.1 More Music FM in the morning...because they play lots of music. Except for sometime lately....all I hear in the morning is talk, talk, talk...and maybe a couple of songs thrown in so that the hour isn't just talk.

Plus it's mostly JT (the guy) saying disparaging things about the females on the show, etc. A definite turn off. :|

So, it is off to see if I can find a station in the morning that actually plays music.

Meanwhile, moments ago...FedEx showed up at my door, and there it is a new Dell 1800FP....have to send back the old one later. I'll probably do that swapout after work as well. This I'll need to do before I upgrade the refurbed 5040 to 250, since I need to move my old monitor back to old computer to be able to see what I'm doing.

Well, actually it isn't new...its a refurbished unit. But as long as it works...and lasts.... :>>

Dell 1800FP replacement

Well, I was on the Dell site to lookup the number to call (plus to see if I could find any online record of my call).

While, I couldn't find any record of service activity associated with my computer, I did find an order status entry dated 11/30 (the date that I was expecting the replacement to show, since I have NBD service...I called on the evening of 11/26, so they said it would process on Monday and then I would be the Next Business Day after that).

But, the Order Status entry says it is in production....and when I clicked on it....it gives a delivery estimate of December 10-14.

Almost sounds like they are custom manufacturing an 1800FP to replace my bad one. I suppose I should see if Dell even makes an 18" LCD anymore....

Meanwhile...I'm still contemplating if a Dell LCD TV is in my future.....in fact I'm eyeballing the possibility of getting a good price for a W2600, even though I have no idea where I would put such a beast.....

I'm having trouble reading my screen...

...because I've downgraded from the dead Dell 1800FP to my old AOC 17" CRT monitor. Boy, what a huge difference.

Not to mention my desk clutter has trouble accommodating the extra size of the monitor. ;D

Dell 1800FP Dead

My Dell 1800FP LCD Display has died... :..(

...it was only just over 13 months old.

Now to see if Dell will cover it, I got it separately but for use with my Dell Dimension XPS 2 computer that I got around the same time. Originally, I thought I was going to reuse my old 17" monitor....except when I saw how much better an LCD would be (even though I still have a CRT on my main computer at work ;) )

Good news. Dell has arranged to replace it. I have NBD service on my Dell Dimension XPS 2, so they say Tuesday. Perhaps if I had noticed it had stopped working sooner....

Though it was working this morning when I checked my Email, etc....so until at least 2ish this afternoon.
