The Weekend C# Project....

....finished up a lot sooner than I had expected.

I made 3 changes to the code:

 1. expose channel type in BuildChannelGuide-s
 2. override show title with channel title if channel type is "Single" or "Recurring"
 3. fix the file is already open by another process unhandled exception

As it turned out the cause of the 3rd item is in the same class as the first two changes....

WiRNS and TV/Movie Ratings

Link: http://www.lhaven.net/wirns_ratings.zip

Okay, I've decided to release my changes out to the unsuspecting world and hopefully somebody will see fit to incorporate it into an existing distro (along with my previous changes).

Here's proof that it works ;D

WiRNS, Zap2It and TWC

Well, this morning my ReplayTVs that depend on WiRNS for guide data wouldn't update.

SQL exception during the update.....don't know if it is because of my changes or because Zap2It changed the lineup of one of the guides. (they removed channels 80-96...rather than move then to 1100+, which is okay since I can live without seeing them on my ReplayTV). But, they failed to make the other changes. Changes that Time Warner had mailed me about back in November that would take effect today.

The big one is they moved BBC America from digital 108 to Standard (analog) 74. Without the guide updates, from both Zap2It and DNNA...I'm missing shows on BBC America now.

WiRNS seemed to hang at Purging guide data...so my first guess is it is related to the lineup change. Since I didn't touch the database structure to make my changes.

Though there is a problem when it fetches the guide data from my ReplayTV...so that's probably my fault.

More WiRNS changes

That went way to easily.....

I made yet more tweaks to WiRNS.....I now have TV ratings, MPAA ratings, Star Ratings and Movie Year showing up correctly in my ReplayChannel Guide.

Though the only reason I did it was because, the presence or absence of TV ratings affects whether it things a show is the same or different....I suppose next wish is actor info....wonder if I feel up to more hacking....

WiRNS and Digital Cable

How do I get a custom guide to show up for a Digital Cable box?

I set up a lineup on Zap2It...but it shows up for the Cable input on my ReplayTV (but not for the Digital Cable box).

I'm not in a hurry to get this working, but the cable company is changing its lineup on the 16th...and I want to keep the offset to my other inputs where they are.

The digital lineup is going to 4 digits. Hmm, I hope the box continues work.

Though what is happening is they are moving the on-demand channels in X-99 to 1000+. It is kind of weird, but the reason for the move is because 2-X is basic/standard cable...and they are adding more channels to standard (analog) cable.

One move is BBC America is moving from digital to analog. At first I wasn't happy with it....because I like recording it in digital. But, since I only have one ReplayTV on digital, but 4 ReplayTVs on analog....it solves the issue of conflicts....though by no longer recording The Screen Savers, the issue has long ago gone away.

Refurbished Dell 1800FP & Replaced 250G

Well, I swapped in the refurbished Dell 1800FP that Dell shipped in response mine dying last Friday. Now to put my dead monitor into the box and have DHL pick it up, etc.

So great having the display back in front of me. 88|

Old monitor is back where it was, so I reupgraded my refurbished 5040 to 250GB. That went smoothly...probably having done it 8 times before was a factor. ;D

Meanwhile, another box from UPS....UPS lady asking why I chose to be in a top floor apartment.... I don't think I'm expecting any UPS packages tomorrow, but I am expecting one on Monday. :P
