TiVo HD 2 will be blank soon....

...I am now doing the process of removing the old 500GB My DVR Expander from it, which'll surely leave it blank. And, then it'll be the process of bonding it with the new 1TB My DVR AV Expander. There was some thought on when I was going to do these… more »

declaring 'orac' alive again.

'orac' is back, long live 'orac'. 'orac' had gone away on Thursday, it actually started in Wednesday.... For some unknown reason, I decided to start the upgrade of 'orac' from 8.04LTS to 10.04LTS. The upgrade seemed to go okay, but when I rebooted… more »

5-bay RAID and backuppc

Good-bye Gumby, Hello new Gumby

So, I decided yesterday...in the midst of a tornado watch, etc. that it was time to pull the plug on the old Windows 2000 box known as 'gumby' and set up a new 'gumby' using the off-lease Lenovo Thinkcenter M55 that I got from TigerDirect when I got back… more »

Converted box to use RAID1

I've been wanting to try a Port Multiplier eSATA enclosure on my Ubuntu 8.04LTS Server, known as 'orac', for sometime. But, keep getting sidelined by how much it would cost to get a 5-bay enclosure and 5 drives... it would only be a matter of time that… more »
